2Pac Heartfelt Brilliance in ‘Do for Love’

“Do for Love” is a hip-hop/R&B song by 2Pac (Tupac Shakur), featuring guest vocals by Eric Williams of the R&B group BLACKstreet. The song was released in 1998 as a posthumous single from 2Pac’s album “R U Still Down? (Remember Me).” The album was released in 1997, several years after 2Pac’s death.

“Do for Love” samples the 1979 song “What You Won’t Do for Love” by Bobby Caldwell. The lyrics of the song explore themes of love, relationships, and the challenges that come with them. 2Pac reflects on the complexities of romantic relationships and the sacrifices people make for love.

The chorus includes the sampled lines from Bobby Caldwell’s original track: “I guess you wonder where I’ve been. I searched to find the love within.”

Despite 2Pac’s passing, his posthumous releases, including “Do for Love,” continued to be well-received by fans, showcasing his enduring influence on the hip-hop genre.
